Exodus 16
Reflect
I find it hard to read this chapter and not wonder how the Israelites didn’t see how God was taking care of them. How could they miss His presence in their lives? But then I stop and ask if I am any different from the Israelites. Do I grumble when I think God has forgotten me or if life is a bit harder than I would like?
God’s provision of food to the Israelites--and it was a gracious provision--was given not to be hoarded. Not to be the first one up and gather so much that you won’t have to get up and gather for a week or two, but rather to daily trust in the Lord. This daily task of gathering just enough for the day kept the Israelites in a constant state of depending on God.
Apply
I wonder how dependent we are on God. The Israelites needed the daily food, and it was a very tangible thing they could do, but what about us? Do the actions of our daily life demonstrate a constant dependance on God?

Juanita is a Member Care Advisor, a role that has been described as part HR, and part pastoral care. Juanita works directly with many of our 300+ Wycliffe Canada missionaries, helping them to be supported and successful in their roles, especially as they go through transitions in their work and family life. Juanita also has a part-time role helping John in Development work, meeting donors, and sharing the stories and opportunities for them to be involved.
