Exodus 17:8-16
Reflect
There is an African saying that goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.”
Today’s passage gives us a glimpse of what can happen when you “go together”. Moses goes up onto a hill with Aaron and Hur. Moses raises his arms and the Israelites win, when his arms come down, the Israelites lose.
Now, if Moses had gone up on the hill by himself, I’m guessing the battle might have taken a lot longer to come to completion and I don’t know if the Israelites would have won. But Moses didn’t go alone, and Aaron and Hur were able to help hold Moses’ arms up and the Israelites defeated the Amalekites.
Apply
Are you more prone to want to go fast in life or are you someone who would like to go far, and has invited people to journey with you? Let’s be people who are going far together.
