Psalm 125
Reflect
If there is one point that you can take away from today, it’s that God is infinitely greater than whatever is threatening you.
[Stability] When we read Psalm 125 (v1), the psalmist shows a level of assurance in the Lord to provide strength and stability for his life. God is immovable, secure, and unwavering; the psalmist attaches himself to the only solid foundation in this world.
[Security] In verse 2, the LORD is compared to the mountains that surround Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built on one of the seven mountain peaks in the region; the other six peaks provided protection from enemies. In the same way, God surrounds His people with an impenetrable defense.
[Sufficiency] The LORD does good for those who abide closely (v4). He works and satisfies what the believer needs in moments of tribulation.
[Serenity] The effect of trusting and abiding in God results in peace and rest for the believer.
If there is a problem, crisis, or challenge that is threatening your peace, this is your time to anchor yourself in the Lord, and to surround yourself with others that will do the same. God will not let you down, even though it may feel like it for now, and He will give strength to your steps.
