Preparation for Sunday, August 27

2 Samuel 11 – 2 Samuel 12:15

Today brings to the close our summer series entitled, “David – An Authentic Walk with God”. Along the way we have seen David being given the privilege of being chosen by God to do amazing things, and David has been faithful on his rise to being King. David persevered when his brothers minimized him, faithful when all the odds were against him, receptive to God’s comfort when life was dark, appreciative of a close friendship, secure in his identity, courageous to take on the egotistical rich, revealing humility in contrast to King Saul, and last week, generous kindness.

David knew that he was privileged, and his life displayed it. Today’s passage turns a corner, or perhaps better, David goes off a cliff. This is the turning point as we see David has forgotten that a life of privilege reveals what character a person actually has.
