Psalm 134
Reflect
This last song of ascent, of walking up the hills to get to Jerusalem to worship, addresses those who serve by night in the house of the LORD! Who are they? They were Levite watchmen, that guarded the temple.
As I ponder for days where this is applicable for today, God taught me when piling my groceries into the car. A young man approached me in the parking lot, handing me a pamphlet and in return asking me for some money or groceries. He said they are followers of Jesus who live like the early Christians, sharing and fellowshipping together. Many questions and glances through the booklet, make me sense that something is not quite right.
As I finally ask this young man, “If you would die today, what would happen to you?” He answered, “I hope I lived good enough to have eternal life.” Wow, so close to the Bible, yet missing the truth.
Jesus paid the punishment for our sin. Because of Jesus' blood sacrifice we can enter the sanctuary – the throne of our Holy God!
After I share the goodness of our God and His redemption, we both part ways.
Apply
Abide in God's Word to actually know the truth. Ask for the Holy Spirit's guidance! Praise Jesus’ name and deeds in front of others and stand up for the truth in a world that seems to look increasingly darker.
