Galatians 4:1-7
Reflect
Our passage today talks about how God sent His Son Jesus to redeem humanity so that instead of being slaves to sin and slaves to the law, we could be called children of God. What a gift!
The passage ends by saying, “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child.” I wonder how many of us, when we take a step back and look at our lives, would say that we are living more like slaves, or more like children. It can be hard sometimes to fully live into our identity as sons and daughters, adopted into God’s family. Maybe there’s something that’s getting in the way, something that is still tying us to our old ways of living.
God is saying you don’t have to live like that anymore. You don’t have to live as a slave. You are a child of God, and heir. Jesus came so that we could be made free of the things that hold us down in slavery. He has redeemed us. We have all the rights and freedoms as sons and daughters of the family.
What would it look like for you to more fully embrace your identity as an adopted son or daughter of God today?
