Devotional Guide for Wednesday, November 8

Philippians 3:1-6

Reflect

What would your life look like if you were fully convinced and living out of a certainty that God is fully for you?

This entire semester our sermon series, “Dwelling in Freedom” has repeatedly emphasized that even on your best day, you cannot earn a right standing with God. Being accepted by God is all grace. We are called to humbly receive His acceptance by faith. This also means that even on your worst day, your relationship with God is not void. We did nothing to earn His righteousness imputed to us; we can do nothing to have Him leave us. Even Paul, who did everything humanly possible to earn a right standing, exclaims that true righteousness through law-keeping is impossible. That, my friends, is certainly reason to “rejoice in the Lord…again I say rejoice”!

Those who grasp and experience that righteousness is a gift to be received by faith are the world’s most liberated people, radical lovers, authentic worshippers, and most fervent achievers. Why? Because the righteousness of Jesus is being poured through them. Where the Spirit of Jesus is, there is profound joy and the infinite ability to transform lives. This is the truth that moved Paul to complete humility as well as to be shockingly bold.

Apply

How is the stunningly gracious righteousness of Jesus calling you to boldly life for His glory?
What’s your next step of faith? I’d love to hear about it!
