Colossians 1:21-23

Reflect

Three words from verse 21: “Hostile, Evil, Alien(ated)”. Sounds like the plot of a science fiction movie. But there is no fiction in the fact that Paul is referring to each one of us in our condition before God. The reality of our estrangement and our total lack of capacity to bridge the chasm that separates us from God is factual. Paul recaps that our state is changed by an act of God. Jesus does not simply cage the alien, keeping it as a curiosity to look at. No, Jesus goes way beyond that. Jesus transforms us into so much more. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus presents us as pleasant, upright and united with Him.

As we go through the book of Colossians, we are going to see how Jesus Christ is supreme and how this renovation of our being could not be done by anyone other than the Son of God.

Apply

When the truth of what Jesus has done for us sets into our heart and mind, it can be humbling and it can be freeing. Today will you take time to acknowledge the amazing gift you have received in Christ? Will you also consider who might need to hear of the greatest story ever told, about Jesus and His love for them?
