Psalm 62, 1 John 3:1-3
Reflect
What do you hope for? I hope to see the Edmonton Oilers win another Stanley Cup. I hope this will be a winter of little snow and warm temperatures.
Hope is a powerful emotion. In our weakest points, our most vulnerable situations, when we are scared, we can cling to hope. Hope that whatever is before us will change.
David wrote Psalm 62 as he is being threatened by conspirators. His outlook doesn’t look great, but then he remembers to place his hope in the one who is trustworthy and above all our earthly experiences. “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.” (vs. 5)
1 John 3:1-3 reminds us we are beloved children of God, and we can place our hope in Him, knowing He will come again one day.
It’s ok to hope for your favourite sports team to win, but it is more important to place your hope for your future in the God who loves you and knows you intimately.
