Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 16

Numbers 6:22-27, Luke 2:13-14

Reflect

Our world could use a lot of peace. Anytime I scroll through Instagram or TikTok I see a lot of people using language and sharing struggles related to anxiety and worry. There is a definite lack of peace in individual lives and the world in general. I’ve observed this outside the church and inside the church and I am not exempt from my own struggles with worry.

In the verses today we read of the glorious celebration recorded in Luke 2. Jesus has come and the angels cry, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” The passage in Numbers records a blessing, asking the Lord to “give you peace.”

Jesus has come to bring peace by reconciling us to God! He has also come to be the source of our peace. No matter what happens in life, we can find peace in Christ. Scripture tells us how to do this.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7). When the worries of life come for us, we can call on the Lord.

And Scripture tells us that when we do that, HE will give us peace.

Bring your worries to Him today and ask for the gift of His peace.
