Devotional Guide for Friday, December 15

Isaiah 52:7-10

Reflect

In many evangelical circles, God is mostly portrayed as someone who is a friend. His character is often talked about as being tender, loving, kind, caring and comforting as He walks with us through different trials and challenges. All of this is undoubtedly true of our God! What is also true is the fact that God is a battling King and a victorious warrior.

The messengers carry the good news of God’s reign and restoration; it is a joyful celebration when the Lord returns and redeems His creation! There is so much to look forward to! This is all due to the fact the Lord has won. Salvation will be proclaimed to all nations, and they will testify to His power and presence.

Another great truth is that although this passage applied to Israel during the time of authorship, it also applies to us through Christ. The Kingdom has already been inaugurated through the Holy Spirit, and yet, we wait with joyful anticipation for God’s full reign when Christ returns.

It’s easy to become disheartened with different life challenges and events, but this message brings peace to the wavering heart. There is a purpose but there is also a destination and a journey that God wants to bring you on.
