Preparation for Sunday, February 18

Luke 15:1-7

This morning Pastor Nathanael continues a series of sermons around the theme, “Dwelling in Christ,” in which we are focusing on a number of questions Jesus asked His followers. We’ll be looking at the lost sheep in Luke 15:1-7, and asking the question, “... if he has lost one of them, does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?”

It’s in this passage that we’ll discover the shepherd’s quest, burden, celebration and joy as he searches for the lost sheep. Woven throughout this story is a wonderful picture of the shepherd's love, and how it’s not diluted by numbers; it is intensely personal. The shepherd's pursuit of the lost sheep reflects God's relentless love for us. His commitment is unwavering, prompting Him to leave the 99 in search of the one. God has outstretched arms to those who return – He never stopped caring for you.
