James 1:1-12
Reflect
Today begins our journey through James as he writes this letter to the scattered church, in many ways to encourage them as they face challenges and persecution. He writes that as we persevere under trials and as our faith gets tested, we become more like the people we were made to be. We become mature, complete, and lacking nothing.
It’s interesting to note that James says “whenever” you face trials, not “if” you face trials. It seems to be an inevitability. And I’m not trying to sugar-coat or minimize anything here, but I do believe that as we go through trials, if we are able to keep our eyes set on Jesus, we will see that He is someone who sustains, provides, and is present with us in the midst of the trials. My prayer for myself, and for all of us, is that when we go through these challenges, they wouldn’t be wasted on us. That we would get another glimpse deeper into the character of God and who He made us to be and the love that He has for us. If you find yourself in a trial right now, I’d encourage you to ask God to reveal Himself to you in this time.
Some of you are going through some really significant trials right now. Please know that I am praying for you, and any of us on staff would love to chat anytime.
