Matthew 26:53-54
This morning, we’ll be continuing our series on “Dwelling in Christ” by looking at the question found in Matthew 26:53-54, “Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”
Jesus has the profound authority to summon a heavenly army of angels to rescue Him of his sufferings, yet He chose to surrender to God’s plan. Jesus’ astounding act of obedience and sacrifice echoes the timeless a vital truth that God’s plans may require us to endure challenges while trusting in His greater plan and purpose.
We may sometimes encounter situations where there is no escape, and pursuing God is the last thought in our minds. However, Jesus’ example encourages us to embrace the will of God no matter how difficult. Though sometimes immensely painful, His plans are always for our good and His glory.
