1 Peter 3:8-22
Reflect
“Finally, all of you, be of one mind”…. I didn’t have to get far into the passage today before this verse stood out to me. What does it mean to be of one mind? Sports teams are composed of people who are from all different walks of life. But when they come together, they are focused on one goal--beating their opponent!
In this verse, Peter is referring to the unity of God’s people. We may be very different in our lifestyles, interests, families, traditions, etc. We may not be the same but in Christ we are one. To be of one mind is to be united in intent and purpose. In John 17:22-23 Jesus says, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one--I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity.” When we are of one mind we can love each other well. And when we love each other well, we show the world who we belong to. John 13:35 says, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
When we are of one mind, our focus shifts from ourselves to God. We are united in our purpose of glorifying God and reflecting Him to the world.
