Philippians 1:1-6

Reflect

Living in India, sharing Jesus made me often wonder if we were “left alone” on the front line. Of course God was there, but what about God’s children far off in North America, Europe etc.?
Paul is clear about the big family of God. Verse 3 and 5 says, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,….in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.”

The whole effort to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth is a joint effort.

The Philippians accepted Jesus as their way of salvation themselves. The Good News is that we are saved from the punishment for our sin, or eternity in hell. It is not that we will get a comfortable or easy life. No, in fact those who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution, according to 2 Timothy 3:12.

Jesus says, “rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” Luke 10:20b – the centre of the Good News!

The Good News bears fruit in partnership. Anything you do in word or deed for the furthering of the kingdom of God: prayer for the lost and for Christian workers; giving, going and sharing yourself; teaching; displaying the fruit of the Spirit in your life, etc. May Jesus restore in us the joy of His salvation, to make us active teammates like the Philippians.
