Proverbs 4:1-27

Reflect

God is the source of all wisdom. Our responsibility is to know God and His wisdom so we can instruct those who are younger.

Every generation struggles with each other. Misunderstandings always bring quarrels to relationships. Solomon shows us that we need to understand the responsibility of fathers to teach their sons (v.3-4).

By keeping wisdom in our heart and living by it we will have (v.20-27):

v.22 – Life and health. By listening to wisdom, we can choose to act and live in a healthy way. Wisdom protects us from wrong actions that negatively impact our life.

v.23 – We run to protect everything that we have from material life, but we forget about our heart, the most important part of us. Everything that shows who we are flows from our heart.

v.24 – We express our feelings and thoughts using words. It is important to control what we say. Because of our lack of vocabulary, we may use empty words or phrases.

v.25 – God encourages us to be focused on very important things.

v.26-27 – It is very important to choose the right path in life and stay straight on it. We are encouraged to understand our way; then we will avoid evil in our life.

After reading Proverbs 4 let’s ask ourselves:
Am I listening to the teaching of our parents and spiritual leaders?
Am I keeping the way of wisdom?
Am I understanding how wisdom helps me in my life?
