Proverbs 10:16-32
Reflect
Often throughout the book of Proverbs, among others, the power that we have in the words we say is emphasized again and again. In today’s group of the Proverbs we find wisdom in holding our tongue. The tongue can be as valuable as choice silver, from the tongues of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom, and wicked tongues will be silenced.
But my favourite Proverb in today’s reading says that “the lips of the righteous nourish many”. We have a choice in how we use our words, whether we will use them to build someone up and sustain them in whatever they are facing, or if we’ll use them to tear them down. Words are powerful!
So often we can be quick to use our words to criticize, gossip, or judge. How often do we think nice things about someone or something but never actually voice those words?

Who is someone that you could provide nourishment with your words today? How might God be inviting you to build up with your words today? Why don’t you send them a quick message?
