Psalm 119:114 (NLT): “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.”
Advent is a season of anticipation, a time when we reflect on the coming of Jesus into the world, but also a time when we look ahead with expectant hearts for His return. As we wait for Christ’s return, the Psalmist reminds us where our hope is found - in God’s unchanging Word.
When we face the storms of life and darkness that surround us, God offers us a safe refuge and His protection. God provides a place to rest, to recover, and like an eagle that spreads her wings over her young, He stands between us and what seeks to harm us. God’s Word is the trusted anchor to which we can attach our hope for the future. Hope in His Word gives us courage to face our circumstances and the comfort to know He is beside us every step of the way.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your refuge and protection. Thank You for Your Word, the source of our hope. In this Advent season, remind us often of Your faithfulness in the past and Your promises for the future.
