Have you seen those videos online of people who are colour-blind and they receive these special glasses that help them see the world the way the rest of us see it? And the overwhelming joy that the experience when they finally get to see the world in full colour? It gives us a bit of a window into what this man must have experienced being able to see for the first time. On the other hand, we see the Pharisees who think they are seeing clearly, but lack the ability to see what's right in front of them. They've gotten so stuck in their ways that they don't get to experience the joy of seeing Jesus for who He is.
Where do we find ourselves this Advent season? Is there anything in our lives that is keeping us from seeing Jesus for who He really is? Or anything that is impeding our ability to see Jesus' work in our world? What's stopping us from experiencing the joy of receiving spiritual sight?
My prayer for us this Advent season is that our eyes would be opened to truly see Jesus and His work in the world around us, and that as we see, we too would be overwhelmed with joy.
