2 Chronicles 34:1-13

Reflect

Can you imagine becoming the leader of Canada at the age of 8 years old? How many things would you entrust to an 8-year-old?

Today we read that Josiah became king when he was only 8. By the time he was 16, he began to seek the Lord and when he was 20, he began to purge the land of the evil the previous kings had allowed to take place.

This is an encouraging passage in that it reflects a leader who earnestly is seeking to follow God and is removing the high places and other idols. We don’t know what it looked like for Josiah to implement these changes, but I can only imagine he possibly faced opposition and advice to allow some of the old ways to remain.

For many of us reading this today, we are a few years removed from our 20’s, but I want to encourage you that it is never too late to earnestly seek God, and then do what God is calling each of us to do.

The big challenge is, are we willing to follow God fully or only in ways that we like?
