Acts 4:1-21
Reflect
In our VBS this year, our theme for the third day was “Jesus’ Power Helps Us Be Bold”. The Bible adventure story was from this passage, where Peter and John were bold, and were willing to suffer for doing what was right, sharing Jesus, and acting in His power.
I have very few regrets thus far in my life, but one of my main regrets is of times that I should have been more bold. There have been times where not being bold has caused me to ponder what results could have been different, and why I felt like I disappointed the Lord and myself. Did I not trust that His power would be enough for the situation?
The times that I have been bold in Jesus’ power have proven to bring about His glory. Is that not what my life should be about?
Apply
It can be difficult to be bold in non-threatening situations, let alone life-threatening ones! This is Paul’s advice to Timothy:
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord..” (2 Tim. 1:7-8a).
