Mark 2:23-27
As we continue a sermon series exploring a number of different practices that move our walk with God from intention to action, today we will look at the practice of “Sabbath.”
In Mark 2, we see Jesus correct what had become a wooden legalistic interpretation of Sabbath that had forgotten the gracious invitation of its original intent from God to lay down the incessant need to be productive and be restored physically, spiritually and emotionally.
In our current day, the pendulum has swung from legalism around Sabbath to a context in which Sabbath is now often seen as optional and I wonder how many of us pay the price for this in our sense of anxious driven-ness.
Over these next two weeks, we’ll explore together what it could mean to embrace the gift of Sabbath given by our loving Lord.
