Hebrews 2:10-18
Reflect
When we find ourselves going through a difficult season, one of the natural tendencies is to try to search for someone who can relate to what we’re going through. It can be such an isolating experience to go through something and to feel like nobody understands what you’re going through. And on the flip side, it can feel incredibly patronizing when you share a struggle and someone responds with, “Oh, I know exactly how you feel”. So, we get stuck in this place between wanting to share with someone who can relate, but also feeling like nobody really gets what it’s like.
But in the passage today we have the assurance that Jesus isn’t some far off being, who doesn’t get what it’s like to live this human experience. He was made fully human, suffered and was tempted, and made a way for us as our faithful High Priest. Because of this, we can go to Him and find someone who can truthfully say, “I know what it’s like”. Not only that, He can also help us through the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in because He has made a way.
