Preparation for Sunday, March 19

Matthew 18:21-35

We are currently exploring a number of “practices” that give practical shape to what it means to be in right relationship with God, with one another and with our neighbour. Today we will look at the practice of “Forgiveness/Reconciliation,” with emphasis on forgiveness. In the passage above, we begin to get a glimpse of the enormity of God’s forgiveness extended toward us. Truly, in forgiving our sin, He forgave a debt that we could never begin to repay. In this context, it only makes sense that we extend forgiveness to others. To harbour unforgiveness or desire vengeance not only reveals our lack of understanding God’s forgiveness, it eats away at the health of our own soul.
