Hebrews 10:19-25
Reflect
Have you ever seen a door that has a sign on it saying, “Authorized Personnel Only” and you want to know what is on the other side of that door? Questions that come to my mind when I see these doors are: “What is it that I am not authorized to see or do behind that door?” “How would I become authorized?” “What would happen if I opened that door and went inside?”
In the Old Testament, inside the tabernacle and the temple was a place called the Holy of Holies which held the Ark of the Covenant. Only one authorized person, the High Priest, could enter that place and only one a year.
At the moment Jesus died, the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple was torn in two, in essence granting access to all. Jesus authorizes us to enter into the presence of God and have direct communion with the Father. As we approach Easter, we can be thankful that Jesus made a way for us to come, not fearful that we might be caught, but confident that we have every right to come into the presence of God. Thanks be to God who delivers us through Jesus Christ our Lord.
