Genesis 9:1-17
Reflect
We learn a number of important lessons through the story of Noah’s ark and specifically as we read the covenant that God made with Noah and all of humanity after the flood.
First, we see that the capacity for evil in humankind is great. That was true in Noah’s day, and we can see that it is true in ours as well.
Second, we see that judgement is real. We don’t just get free reign over whatever we want to do. There are consequences for our actions. Lastly however, as we see in this covenant, judgement isn’t the end of the story. In spite of our sinfulness, God’s grace gets the final word. He doesn’t give up on His plan for humanity, but instead extends grace. We see this in the covenant with Noah, but even more completely in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is an end goal that humanity is heading towards, one where we live once again in perfect unity with God, with no more crying or pain.
Praise God that He has made a way for us to enter into the full life with Him.
