Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 9

Psalm 42, Titus 3:3-7

Reflect

In today’s psalm, we see that David is really going through it. He remembers a time when life was easy and joyful, but right now he’s really struggling, and it’s coming at him from all angles. But even in the midst of the challenge, he chooses to keep putting his hope in God and praising him. And we see that hope described in our Titus passage: We have been saved and reborn through the grace of Jesus. This grace isn’t anything that we could earn or strive for ourselves, it is purely out of the kindness and love of God through Jesus.

So, when we find ourselves in challenging times, whatever they may be, I pray that we too would have the confidence in our faith to say along with David, “Put your hope in God, for yet I will praise Him, my Saviour and my God.” This is the hope that we celebrate this season.
