Preparation for Sunday, December 10

John 16:33

Today we’ll be continuing our series through Advent as we prepare our hearts this Christmas season, looking at “The Wonder of His Peace”. You don’t have to spend too much time on social media or watching the news to see that there seems to be a real absence of peace in our world and a real need for some real peace to come, both in our lives individually and in the world around us. We’ll see today that Jesus has come to bring peace to our world (both individually and our larger context), but it doesn’t just end there for us. In Jesus’ sermon on the mount, Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.”

The peace that Jesus brings for us might look different than what we’d expect, but my hope is that we’ll pause to take in the wonder of His way, and from there, carry this peace with us into the hurting world around us.
