1 Peter 1:13-21
Reflect
In this section of 1 Peter, Peter gives instructions to all on how one must live a holy life. This is not the first time that a theme such as this appears, and often it may seem as though they can be covering much of the same material. However, in Peter’s framing of this passage, he includes an interesting difference. For Peter, he begins by telling all to prepare their minds for action, which is done by setting their minds on the hope of Jesus Christ (v13). As he continues to expand on this as well, it is seen that the way Peter expects one to live a holy life is through a life of action. It is very involved by first focusing on the hope of Jesus Christ. Secondly, from the hope of Jesus Christ, we must act obediently and actively resist temptation and sin.
